I ordered a cake for my mother's 80th birthday. She wanted a lemon cake with lemon icing. When I called this is what I conveyed and was told the lemon velvet cake would be what I wanted. I asked for pink and yellow flowers to be on it. I live out of town so chose this establishment because of the reviews I read. My mistake! The decorations were painfully simple and not pink and yellow. I thought that maybe the cake would at least taste good. Wrong again. The cake did not have any flavor and was a bit dry. The icing had some lemon flavor, but not much. All in all very disappointed.
I don't like to write bad reviews and usually don't, unless it can maybe be of help to the establishment or to a customer. I hope this is both. I was in recently to purchase a loaf of gluten-free bread. They only make it on Fridays and then they freeze them for later purchase. It was pretty bad, bordering on inedible (heavy, under-baked, gritty), and I had to throw it away after just one slice (10 bucks in the trash). It would be helpful to have free samples of it, to see what it is like, since it's a specialty item and more expensive. I would like to encourage the owners to research newer recipes for gluten free flour blends that have a better texture, because they are out there and being used other places. I figured being a bread place, it would be better than grocery store GF bread, but that was not the case at all.
Took my daughter there for lunch after going to oncologist. Food use to be great in old location, however not so much any more. The pimento cheese barely covered the bread, cupcake was dry and tasteless. Only thing that was decent was the soup. Sad when good place goes so far down!
Don't understand why it could be considered a bakery. Had a loaf that looked like it was made on a bread making machine and sealed while warm so that skin was wrinkled from moisture. Soon disappointed
I put in an order for a baby shower cake for it to be ready for pick-up on Friday May 27, 2016. I received a call the day before it was supposed to be made and was told that I needed to re-send all of the information that I had previously provided, because they had lost it. I re-sent the information without thinking twice and with no fuss. On Friday, I went to the bakery to pick-up the cake and it was horrible. Hardly any of the instructions were followed. I told them I was not satisfied and wanted a full refund. After extensive conversation, she finally agreed to refund the money, but due to the holiday weekend, I would have to wait until Tuesday, May 31st. When Tuesday came, I went to the bakery and she refused to refund me and called the police stating that I had also threatened her daughters and caused a scene. So now I am out $160 for a cake I never took off of the premises.
