there were a handful of teachers who legitimately cared about the students and their education. that's about all i have good to say about this place. administration was a joke. the building is located right next door to the roughest part of town and we had lockdowns due to gang shootings occasionally. armed police officers roamed the hallways ready to taser and arrest anyone fighting in the halls (which happened on a daily basis) and would frequently spray pepper spray on large groups of people to disperse onlookers. i myself lost count of how many times i had to wash pepper spray out of my eyes before class just because i happened to be caught in the commotion on my way to class. bullying was commonplace and the administration never made any attempts at prevention or reform. the budget was obviously allocated more towards the athletic programs instead of education. at least one teacher which i remember (Dr. Sundarapather) was so incompetent and verbally abusive that in at least one instance that i recall, all but 3 people in the class failed one of her algebra II tests, she angrily told the entire class that we were disgraces to our family and that we should kill ourselves to save them the shame. according to a coworker of mine who took her class several years after i left, she is still in the habit of calling her students disgraces to their family (and in the case of my coworker, the entire Asian race.) if you are considering sending your children to this school, i would highly recommend looking elsewhere.
