I started going to massage envy last year and fell in love with my massage therapist Trina. She is friendly and does a wonderful addition massage. Also, Ashley is also a very well trained and skilled massage therapist so I have two therapist to choose from. I would recommend either of them but unfortunately they are both leaving the business. I will follow both of these great therapists.
I have had chronic shoulder pain and tension headaches from deep knots in my upper back for years and have gone to many different massage therapists trying to combat the tension. Most recently, I went to Massage Envy in Greenville for an introductory 2-hour session. The facility set me up with Dee, a wonderful massage therapist who specializes in trigger point and deep tissue massage, due to the comments I put on my appointment request. I cannot sing Dee's praises enough. From the start she was concise and professional, and she listened to me (a first among my experiences) and immediately dug in to the knots in my back. I could feel the stress almost literally melting off my muscles with each layer she worked on. She also approached the session holistically, showing me ways to stretch out my upper back and my neck so the muscles won't tighten so much, and she counseled me in ways to manage my stress so my back won't suffer. Dee wasn't pushy in any way with her recommendations; rather, she understood my position in life and gave her recommendations to me with that realistic perspective in mind. By the end of the session, I felt infinitely better, and I was almost ready to buy a membership on the spot so I could keep coming back to Dee and keep those back knots at bay. However, I asked the front desk what the membership cancellation policy was (thank goodness) -- as it turns out, the membership cannot be cancelled unless 1. you move to an area outside of a 25 mile radius of a Massage Envy location; 2. your doctor gives a medical reason why you should no longer receive massages; or 3. the manager specifically approves your reason. I asked if financial reasons would be enough for a cancellation, and they said no. As a graduate student, I don't particularly have a lot of financial stability, and goodness knows what kind of income I'll have in a year. To hear their membership cancellation policy was incredibly disappointing to me.

All this to say: if you want a fantastic, customized massage experience, Massage Envy is great. I cannot recommend Dee enough, especially if you have trigger points, like me. However...... after that introductory session, expect to have to pay an exorbitant amount of money for your sessions, or go for a membership with more reasonable costs but in which you're chained to the enterprise. I would give Dee 5 stars, but the membership cancellation policy (and the fact that this information wasn't volunteered to me in the packet -- I had to specifically ask) makes me want to give 2-3 stars. For Dee's sake, I'm giving a 4-star rating.
